A hot tub can make a holiday let more attractive and help it stand out on booking sites, but buying one is a big commitment. Hiring for a season, or for peak months, lets owners see whether it adds bookings or rates before investing. Venues use short-term hire for weddings, retreats and events, where a tub is wanted for a weekend or a few weeks rather than all year.
Commercial use is very different from a private garden hire. The HSE treats hot tubs provided for guests as commercial spa pools, and its guidance HSG282 expects a risk assessment, twice-daily water testing, a water change between each group of guests and records kept. The owner or operator stays responsible, and should not rely on guests to manage the water. We discuss these duties before setting up a commercial hire so the arrangement is workable.
